Have I mentioned that the whole of Spain appears to be a series of construction sites?

The Breakfast Trough was a quiet zone this morning, although with the most inappropriate Noise Pollution of the entire tour, set to Witless Pounding Rock With 4 to The Floor. Noise Cancellators to the rescue, a period of reflecting on what I have learnt from this tour.

A.        Why continue to performance? Performance is:

1.         A way of developing understanding, through learning & making what we have learnt our own.

2.         Becoming an instrument for music, and presenting that in the community & to the world; ie service & manifestation.

3.         An act of worship.

B.        The Creative Impulse is closer to us than we commonly allow.

C.        A deeper knowledge of how & where any process is likely to go off course; where & how intervention is needed to keep it moving towards the intended outcome; while knowing there will also be unintended outcomes & repercussions.

More prosaically, the suitcase about to be closed, and on its last journey…

This Samsonite hard-shell has returned from each travelling with another part of its shell broken, smashed or dented. It has been too far, too often and, if it has feelings, I know how it feels.

Gaffer tape to hold shut the lock that doesn’t…

The case arrived in Spain with one lock open, but hanging shut on the other. Then, in the corridor of our first tour hotel, in front of the door to Vast Mansion Of The Star in Hotel – It Sucks! – With Smoke, Somewhere-Near-To Somewhere-Not-Very-Near-To The Old Town Of San Sebastian, the case simply opened. It’s time to assess reliable travelling gear for an Old Goat Of The Road, aka The Mystical Maestro, Rock God.

12.23  Biff & Shinkuro were off at 05.30, Director Nunez & Fumihito at 08.30, Daniel & Martin to follow, and various others Team members throughout the afternoon.

The suitcase is closed & gaffered, hotel extras paid, only the last 2% of packing remains before a lobby call for departure at 13.00 by taxi to Almeira airport, en route to Barcelona & Heathrow.

12.45  Computer closing.

II…

IMG4869.JPG

What a mess. League members from varying flights at varying times are all here, in various stages of different delays on all our flights, and I am one of them. Along the way Hernan called in from Madrid to say that the airport is chaotic. I shall discover that for myself soon enough.

23.55  Home with the Minx! Yippee! After an awful day of contemporary travelling. The first (booked) flight was delayed indefinitely due to mechanical failure. Apparently another ‘plane was being flown in from France, although with no estimated time of arrival. So, I was re-booked to Madrid with ongoing UK connection. That flight itself arrived an hour late, so as I landed in Madrid the UK connection had already been boarding for 20 minutes. Rock God became pitiful Old Goat hurtling through Terminal H looking for Gate 18, arriving panting & in danger of heart arrest. Old Goats need easier travelling than this. But, I made the flight. My two bags did not.
